5 Last Minute Ways to Celebrate Father's Day

June 14, 2022

Between the end of the school year, planning for summer break, and the 10,000 other things on the average parent's plate, did anyone else drop the ball on Father's Day? If you waited until now to plan something for the special man in your family's life, don't worry! We have you covered with 5 last minute ways to celebrate Dad in the Lehigh Valley.

1- Hops for Pops at the Lehigh Valley Zoo (https://www.lvzoo.org/hopsforpops)

There are still tickets available for the second annual Hops for Pops at the Lehigh Valley Zoo! Come out for a fun day of hanging with animals, sampling local craft beers, and listening to live music! This is a special ticketed event, and is not included in general admission.

2- Hit the Farmer's Market and Grill Up a Feast (https://kutztown-to-allentown.macaronikid.com/articles/607356bea369a5622d0957d0/five-great-farmers-markets-in-the-lehigh-valley)

Can you even call yourself a dad if you don't like to grill? Head to one of the amazing local farmer's markets in the area and load up on fresh veggies and meats and then head home to grill up a feast! Many local farmer's markets also offer free music and entertainment, so grab a coffee and make a morning out of it!

3- Cheer on the Iron Pigs (https://www.milb.com/lehigh-valley)

The Iron Pigs are home this Sunday and will be playing against the Buffalo Bisons. There will also be a special appearance by the Phillie Phanatic!

4- Take Dad Out to a Manly Brunch (https://www.brudaddysbrewingcompany.com, https://www.losttavernbrewing.com/lost-tavern-events, https://www.mccallcollectivebrewing.com/menus)

Brunch isn't just for Mom! Bru Daddy's Brewing, Lost Tavern Brewing, and McCall Collective Brewing all offer brunch every Sunday! Wake up early and enjoy some delicious food as a family.

5- Enjoy the Great Outdoors (https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/JacobsburgEnvironmentalEducationCenter/Pages/default.aspx, https://www.wildlandspa.org)

One of my favorite things about living in the Lehigh Valley is the amount of ways to enjoy the outdoors. Take a leisurely stroll around the Bethlehem or Allentown rose gardens. Or strap on your hiking boots and hit Jacobsburg Park or The Wildlands for a more intense trek. Either way, spending time outside as a family is always a good time!

Honorable Mention: Hit the Movies! (http://www.shankweilers.com, https://www.steelstacks.org/event/12048/the-pursuit-of-happyness/, https://www.marcustheatres.com/theatre-locations/movie-tavern-trexlertown)

If a relaxing day of kicking back and watching the latest movie is more of Dad's speed, there are a few unique ways to do so in the Lehigh Valley. The Trexler Movie Tavern has all of the latest hits, plus you can have food and drinks delivered right to your seat! The Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at the SteelStacks is offering a FREE showing of The Pursuit of Happyness. Can anyone watch that movie without crying like a baby? Or head to Shankweiler's Drive-In Theater for a fun double feature!
