5 Things to do This Weekend in the Lehigh Valley (August 16th - 18th)

By Rebecca Seidenberger, Macaroni KID Allentown and Bethlehem August 15, 2024

1- Taco and Margarita Festival

Coca Cola Park is an awesome venue to visit, even when the Iron Pigs aren't home. The stadium hosts some pretty cool events, and tomorrow night is sure to be one of them! For $10/ person, you can experience Taco and Margarita Festival. Your $10 includes your first margarita or soft drink, live music, and access to tons of taco food trucks (tacos at an additional cost). (Friday, August 16th)

2- Cut-Your-Own Sunflowers and Zinnias

If you can't wait until pumpkin season to visit Grim's Orchard, then don't worry! Here's a way to experience the fun while it's still warm. Bring your own scissors and enjoy access to a field of beautiful flowers. Each participant will be given their own mason jar to fill. In addition, you will have access to all of the fun play equipment at Grim's. (Saturday and Sunday, August 17th and 18th)

3- Lehigh Valley Pride

Musikfest may be over, but Bethlehem is still the place to be this weekend! On Sunday, head to the SteelStacks for to celebrate love! Admission is free, and you will be able to celebrate LGBTQ+ community members and allies with more than 300 vendors, artists, community organizations, family activities and sponsors. (Sunday, August 18th)

4- South Whitehall Movies in the Park: Trolls Band Together

Trolls Band Together has quickly become one of my family's favorite movies! I think my daughter watches it once a week, and I can't say I mind (Hello there 'N Sync!). The weather has finally cooled down this past week, so tomorrow night is the perfect night to head outside and enjoy a movie under the stars! (Friday, August 16th)

5- S.T.E.A.M. Adventures

Did you know that on Sundays, you can visit the National Museum of Industrial History for a special price? During Family Sundays, all youth 12 and under receive free admission when accompanied by a paying adult. Adult admission is $15. Better yet, on the third Sunday of the month, children can engage in a FREE STEAM project! This month’s activity is Rock Painting! Learn about the raw materials needed in the steelmaking process and paint your own rock to either take home or decorate our museum garden. (Sunday, August 18th)
